Nicholas Chevalier was a Russian-Swiss artist and a renowned landscape painter of the 19th century. As an official expedition artist, he accompanied various exploratory journeys, painting numerous natural landscapes across different parts of the world. His most famous works, including Mount Egmont from the Southward and The Buffalo Ranges, depict the nature of Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific. Additionally, Chevalier gained recognition in British aristocratic circles and created numerous paintings during his travels, many of which were exhibited in Great Britain.
