Sita Ram was an early 19th-century Indian artist known for his exceptional watercolors depicting scenes from colonial India. He is considered one of the most important artists of the Company School, an art movement that emerged under British influence and combined traditional Indian painting techniques with European ones. Sita Ram's artistic work is primarily associated with Lord Hastings, the Governor General of India. He was the official artist on Hastings' travels through northern and central India, documenting landscapes, historical monuments and everyday scenes.
