Pierre-Auguste Renoir was a French artist and is considered one of the most important painters of Impressionism. His works often depict joyful, life-affirming scenes of social life, characterized by harmony and a deep appreciation of beauty. He is particularly known for his portrayals of festive gatherings, portraits, and outdoor scenes. His most famous paintings include Luncheon of the Boating Party and The Swing. Despite facing health challenges in his later years, Renoir remained artistically active until the end of his life. Unlike some other Impressionist painters who gained recognition only posthumously, he achieved great success during his lifetime. He left behind an impressive body of work, with over 6,000 artworks.
