Thomas Daniell was a British artist of the 18th and early 19th centuries and is regarded as a significant landscape painter of the colonial era. He became particularly known for his depictions of India, which he created during extensive travels alongside his nephew William Daniell. His works, including Hindoo Temples at Bindrabund and Great Pagoda, Tanjore, showcase grand temple complexes, exotic landscapes, and the architectural diversity of India at the time. His art was highly acclaimed during his lifetime and played a major role in shaping Europe’s perception of India.
