Jan Hendrik Weissenbruch was a Dutch artist of the 19th century and is considered one of the most important representatives of the Hague School, an artist group that initially adhered to Dutch landscape painting in a realistic and romantic style but later influenced Impressionists like Vincent van Gogh and helped bridge the way to modern painting. In his works, Weissenbruch focused on realistic light and weather conditions, often capturing vast skies, dunes, and canals. His most famous paintings include Polder Landscape with Windmill and Dutch Dune Landscape.
